Can you make me Laugh?

Maybe it's the overcast weather and spring dragging its feet, I don't know.

But I think I have a cure.

Last night during dinner we were talking about next weekend when my husband and I will be out of town at the writers conference. My oldest son has a scout dinner/auction that night and my husband said that grandpa would probably enjoy it.

That's it.

Then milk sprayed all over my son's plate. It came out of his mouth and his nose and his face turned red. He was laughing. My husband and I looked at each other in confusion.

That was funny?

Really?

My oldest went into the kitchen proclaiming he hadn't got milk up his nose in a long time.

My husband and I are still looking at each other dumbfounded.

And then, eventually, it hit me. We've all been needing a good laugh. The problem is we really aren't funny people, so the stupidest things set us off. It's pretty weird.

So here's what I'm asking. Tell me something funny. We need a good laugh over here. Seriously, if we're losing milk from a mild conversation, imagine the fun we could have with something that was ACTUALLY funny.

Today in music class, we were talking about Richard Wagner and his contributions. Blah blah blah...and then my teacher says, "And he has lasting implications...his style leads to what we see in modern day. Example:" And puts on STAR WARS THEME. He played the main theme, the imperial theme, and Han and Leia's theme. Not particularly hilarious...tells you what my life is currently like.

I remember one time when my sister Annette drew a great drawing of a black kitten (she's an awesome artist) and it was so cute that we wanted to give it a name. We couldn't come up with a good fit, so we looked online for a kitty naming site. We found this by chance.

http://www.alistair.com/catname/

We laughed so much at some of the names that came up! For 3 seconds each time we got to laugh and try out the name to see if it fit. I don't know if we got the name from there in the end, but I personally got a huge kick out of it.

I don't know if it would mean the same if I visited it now. But maybe it will make you laugh. ^_~

Once when we were going through a drive thru as the obviously non English speaking attendant handed Dave our food he said "Danka Muchacha!" in a very growly voice. This was a year ago and it still brings tears to my eyes. It must have been the timing???

Another time, I was very pregnant and he was draining macaroni. From the other room I heard the splatter of noodles into the sink and he said "Smooth Move Ex-lax". I laughed so hard it was dangerous.

Lily is the funny one in our family right now. Don't you find 4 hilarious?

oh, oh, oh, If Mom doesn't come on and tell you about the troll then I will, but I'll give her a chance. You'll laugh to tears. :)

I wish I had something funny to offer but sadly, I'm not very funny. I can recommend plenty of funnier people though! Jenn's post about Vegas today was funny. http://jennjohansson.blogspot.com/2010/04/las-vegas-learning.html

And DeNae Handy always makes me laugh. http://thebackorderedlife.blogspot.com/

p.s. I will be writing you back. That email you recently sent me? I was crying all over the place. I'm sorry I haven't been able to write back recently. I've only now gotten home from a 2 day crazy-fest of taxes and family fighting. =[ I promise you, it's forthcoming.

amuser- thanks for the Star Wars thoughts.

Magenta- my son and I watched the names change at that sight. There were some crazy names, and yes, we did bust up laughing.

Melissa- Danka muchacha- I'm going to have to try that sometime. I totally agree with timing. It's what makes things so funny.

L.T.- I'll have to check out those blogs. Can't wait to see you next week!

Yay! I'm glad the kitty names made you laugh. ^_^

Magenta- there was the Big Furry Furball (AKA BFF)

And one more that we couldn't stop laughing about but is definitely not family appropriate.

Initials BCFH

We decided to call it BC. Good thing I'm allergic to cats or I might actually name one of them something terrible.

Oh goodness we are always laughing about something over here. The last time I laughed so hard I was snorting was last week in the temple though. It was awful. Whatever you do, if you have a deaf person in your session--do not watch the first 15 minutes of the deaf video they show. I repeat--DO NOT WATCH IT! I never knew the men signing could be so erm, animated. Lol!

Now that I'm 63 there seem to be many funny "stupid" things. One thing that comes to mind is putting something away in the wrong place and frantically hunting for it. Thanks for the wonderful giveaway. Not funny at the time you are looking for it.
